What is traceroute? Traceroute (tracert) is a command line utility that is applied in networking to present the route that is taken by info packets as they journey throughout the web to their destination. It can be a device utilized to troubleshoot networking complications.

is it tracert on kali linux too?
guys its traceroute (dest) if you are on linux
Please explain TTL , Destination Net Unreachable (DNU), TTL expire in transit
apparently having windows 10 and fios this doesn't work properly (what I have). it only shows 2 hops and then it's complete. did some research and apparently it has been goin on for awhile and has to do on verizon side. all service works fine but you cant properly use tracert to track all the hops and information one might need.
You haven't explained that "Traceroute sends packets with TTL values that gradually increase from packet to packet, starting with TTL value of one. Routers decrement TTL values of packets by one when routing and discard packets whose TTL value has reached zero, returning the ICMP error message ICMP Time Exceeded. Proceeding in this way, traceroute uses the returned ICMP Time Exceeded messages to build a list of routers that packets traverse, until the destination is reached and returns an ICMP Echo Reply message."
what is the linux command for this
excellent video
I appreciate for your complete explanations in each vedeo. Please keep posting. I really learnt more from you Particularly more about the networking.
thanks for your clear explanation, pretty useful.
This is how every lecturer and teachers should teach. You're doing a great job sir, keep it up. Im the first student if you open a training institute.
Explained clear! Could you make a video about server virtualization or iee802.1x and radius authentication in a LAN? Thanks!
Simple and to the point. Excellent content. Thank you.
does any1 know what -dwl do? a.k.a 'tracert -dwl hostname'?
I have been working in networking since 2009 and this is the first time someone has explained traceroute so well.
I have a comptia exam coming up with no IT background, thank you for this video, the lesson plans suck on CompTIA because none of it is in depth
I ping local IP address but it continuously pinging infinitely, in your video it stopped when all steps to destination back to computer reached. Any explanation?
You deserve to be spread every corner of the world. Love your clarity of knowledge man.
Is this how we limit the trace to 4 hops (for example)????? or is it when we run the trace hop at 4, and run the command, we are just seeing only 4 of the hops and it is still going to do all the hops to get to the end server?.. IF it does not limit it..is there a way we can bypass all of the hops and shorten the distance to the end server?. I called my ISP provider and they said there is nothing they can do on their end. I need to clear up the bottle necks and i dont know how..some of my ms were in the 200's.
Thx sir
You are a Gem
Explained in a very understandable way. Thnx
dude thanks a lot for these videos
Thanks
Nice explanation!! 10/10
How can we maximize TTL?
so my internet conection depends on other routers?
I have no background in CCNA, networking, ECT. & I understand your videos. I'm learning Alot, this is a valuable channel, thanks 👊🏽
This was super helpful. Question, what is the data being sent in the data packets? How does it select the data to test the network?
Very nice job, man!
Amazing video! I especially love the IPv5 address of the 4th hop of the traceroute 🙂 🙂 🙂
very thoughtfull mr
Thank you so much!
Hi thanks for sharing I love your videos and your explanations so clear that I’m able to understand!🤗What do you think about Fing app? Thank you a lot🙏🏻❤️🦋
As an IT guy, watching just for entertainment and killing Sunday breakfast time… Nicely done vid!
i found out dod site is between me and google
i now know who to ask for my lost passwords
New to the channel. I love the videos and your way of explaining different topics with very simple diagrams. Thank you good sir!
One thing I've always had trouble with was where do your packets go once it leaves your gateways. I know it hits like a PoP before hitting your ISP, but who are these routers and where are they located?
1 * * * Request timed out.
I thought tracert showed you peoples IP Address and their connection speed, when connected to a certain site?
