  • Adam, I just want to say thank you for this video.

For more than a year I have been trying the block editor on and off, and left frustrated every time.

Finally – an easy to understand tutorial that inspires me to dive in again. I'm also pleased to see that with Kadence Blocks, mobile editing is finally available, this was probably the biggest bugbear in the past for me.

I've also tried a number of other block editor plugins, but I must agree – Kadence Blocks simply seems to cater to most of my website building needs.

Thank you for the great value that you bring to the table. Much appreciated.

  • As extremely displeased at how Google is strong arming β€˜big brother’ style all of us, just like our Government is doing more and more along w most left big tech, we of course can’t stop it… great video, theme and insight Adam. This is very harmful to those of us that for year’s have made true custom web design style w parallax, on scroll animations, dynamic engaging site style 100 a top priority for self and most of our clients.

  • Thank you very much Adam, the timing couldn't be better. With Elementor prices going up and Google's new page speed requirements now is the time to learn Gutenberg!

  • Thanks Adam, lots of great tips in your presentation!

  • I REALLY love my page builder (BB), but understand where this is going and eventually it will be too big to ignore. Normally I'm very loyal to a product, but would love to add this to my portfolio and this video is a great one showing some of the basics. Thanks and you have my thumbs up!

What I would really love is some slightly more technical things like different header designs (conditional like BB), different post designs (conditional like BB) and eventually custom post type integration (BB + Pods and Pods Themer Add-On). Also like in this tutorial you are using a demo site from Kadence, which is using those different modules on top of the background image. Also some tutorials how to achieve those small, cool effects from the demo websites.

  • Thank you Adam for creating this video. I learned something new by watching the video.

  • The issue with gutenberg is that it There's no provision to "save as template" unlike Elementor.

  • Are page builders falling by the wayside when it comes to ranking on google? All that page building wasted in some respects

Please upload more videos about wordpress for beginners please it would be great help for us

  • I AM the 100th comment, 3 years ago I picked up Elementor Pro , thx – cya
on to the next simpler way of FAST life. no more page builder. HELLO again Gutenberg – my have you grown up!

  • Adam, I don't understand why you need to add a column before you add an infobox. I never heard of this before. Can you please elaborate? Thank you. Insightful and helpful VDO by the way.

  • Kalef Ocean says:

    Excellent review…love it.

  • Hi I'm using a free WordPress theme for commercial purpose/for a company. Is it legal to remove footer credit and replace it with our own one? I went through their support forum and I found a similar question. They have replied to it as follows " the idea is user should not remove any attribution note to suppoort our hardwork. Unless he purchasses the PRO version"

  • Herb Brooks says:

thanks, Adam! you helped guide me in a much better direction with a couple client websites that were junked-up with loads of theme-dependent plugins.
IMO, gutenberg and 'block editors' made wordpress kind of goofy the past few years, with plugin conflicts, lack of options, etc. i get the 'novice user' intent for the functionality, but as a 12+ year wordpress user who was used to the 'classic' editor, things are still a little weird.
the Kadence stuff adds the options i was looking for in page editing. it's kind of pricey for the pro, but the regular version is really usable and far better than elementor, wpbakery, thimcore and others.

    thanks again!

This vid is a huge help! I've been dreading learning to go from Elementor to Gutenberg but now I might just get started sooner than later. Thanks for the great content!

  • Dawie Theron says:

Just a quick question: With the Kadence starter themes, there aren't that many available. Where can I get more themes that will work with this setup?

  • Visualmodo says:

    Excellent WordPress tips!

  • Franz Huber says:

Great tutorial! Is there an easy way to use more than 4 widgets in the kadence footer?

  • Thanks for the video Adam.
How would you then work around the extra's in Elementor like pop-ups, marketing, and woocommerce?
How good is the RankMath integration with this way of building without Elementor?

  • hamza najam says:

Hi, I have created an eCommerce store using WordPress and ocean wp theme. I am having an issue with it. All the links on my account page are not working. The above URL is correct like if I clicked on edit account then the URL is perfectly fine mydomain / my-account/edit-account/ but the content below is a blog post please tell me any solution

  • So does mean you are no longer an Elementor fan? It just seems hard work and not payed out as well or as logical as Elementor.

Is Elementor going to innovate or gel into WP in the future

  • Thanks, Adam, great information. However, I do high-end sites where I insert a lot of dynamic content. I didn't notice anything in Kadence Blocks or Gutenberg that allows this type of content. Do you have any suggestions for this use case? If I'm going to make a change with my tools, I need to make sure I can still offer the same level of sites that I offer my clients.

  • Tony Wideman says:

Great information. Looks like I will be ditching Elormentor.

  • CALM says:

Looks promising. I tried the combination for an hour. My experience wasn't as intuitive as I had hoped, but I think that was due to focussing on minute issues. So far, the biggest compaint I have is the Row Layout Block and nesting of additional Row Blocks. I wish there was a more general "Section Block" where you could layer multiple rows more intuitively.

But there's no question I agree with your comment re: Gutenberg not going away and that adding a 3rd party page builder only forces you to additional modules. Then there's also 'premium' themes that have their own proprietary settings as well, and before you know it, it's a proverbial mess.

I'll definitely have to give it another go though. Conceptually, this model makes alot of sense and I have little doubt there will be a continued shift toward making 3rd party premium Gutenberg block plugins and away from bloated page builders.

  • Angela says:

Can I add Amalinks pro or Aawp to this to build an Amazon website or maybe just Amazon links even?

  • Dark Jedi says:

Tried Gutenberg, and it's very promising, Adam. 3 main concerns right now:

#1 – Unless I'm missing something, it doesn't have the kind of theme builder that Elementor has with conditions, where you can specify where a block/template should or should not be placed (in which pages, steps, custom post types, etc.

#2 – Dynamic Content + CPT is lacking (but I saw your comment down below that they're planning to roll it out).

#3 – The editor is very unintuitive. If you place a block (like a paragraph) and forget about it, it's very difficult to see it. Gutenberg editor really needs to have markers and a navigator like Elementor to 1) easily click where you want to click and 2) not end up with empty blocks that you can't see.

  • An OceanWP woocommerce question.
How do you change the Add to cart button to View Cart when the product has been added to cart?

  • @Adam What are your thoughts on Ithemes buying Kadence?

  • Anusha Yadav says:

What key elementor features do you think are missing in Gutenberg?

  • Lee Moran says:

Thanks for the vid. When styling for the phone why does it chance my other setting for desktop and tablet. Is there a way to have the 3 setting operate independently like Elo mentor.

  • Alexen Rosen says:

I am very curious about building WP site without page builder and I found this tutorial. Please make more this tutorial series!!! Thank you.

  • M. Imlac says:

Excellent video. Concise but detailed in areas really needed, especially how to copy blocks and styles.

  • Thank you Adam for your speedy hands on tutorial – so glad I got kadence – thanks!

  • I already have a site built on Elementor PRO. Is it a good idea to build just the landing pages with WordPress Only to get better results with the paid facebook campaign ads that will drive traffic to these landing pages?

  • B* good mate ! Thanks

  • So… this means I really need to abandon Elementor and use Gutenberg to build better websites???

    Unlinking Reusable Blocks

Great video, very informative. Thank you. Going to give building a site using this route a go. But I've got a question about the reusable content.

Is it possible to 'unlink' the reusable content so that it becomes stand alone? I currently use Elementor and can unlink the global widget. An example may help explain why I need to do this. On my Church site we have a prayer list which appears in several places and is updated weekly – so the prayer list is my reusable content. The updated list is needed in all places where the prayer list appears except the pages which contain the Sunday service . Each Sunday, we post a service and on that service page I insert the prayer list as it stands at the time of the service. In Elementor, I then unlink the Prayer List on the service page so that future changes to the prayer list do not affect the prayer list appearing on a particular service page – the people on the list are the people we were asked to pray for at the time of the service, not the current list which could be 12 months + later. Can I do that with the Kadence reusable content and, if so, how?
