Super good for those how can't afford the ABUSIVE price that Roam is going to implement. The app is awesome!
So encrypted one note….
How does this compare to something like The Brain which is a mind mapping app but it allows you to build notes and store images and audio so you could connect your notes via the mind maps.
Thanks for the initial review. Very interesting. Obsidian looks more complex than Roam on first sight. I like the multiple windows, an advantage over Roam. Need sync though and in a way I can use on any platform including from web browser.
I found clickup 3 days ago haha xD so cool to see them sponsoring great creators like yourself
GAMN GANG Clickup FTW! Your introduction to 2.0 brought me back to it, I am one of the many ex-Producteev users.
The fact that they will allow for plugins to be created by the community tells me this project is going in the right direction. Coding apps like VSCode, Atom, Sublime, etc have this and it ends up making by far the biggest difference in my opinion. It only makes sense for an app like this to do the same.
This video taught me about this tool, which taught me about zettelkasten which I had no idea was a thing. Thanks for that. Potential life changer! <3
Folks, we made a new group for Obsidian users!

Excellent content, such a concise and informative video.
Obsidian.md —— the opensource version of RoamResearch
Sadly I don't get the graph view when i click on it. pls helppp
Video starts at 2:00, thank me later
It's nice to know Obsidian is from the Dynalist people, because they have being nice chatting with us the users, as much as they are now in Obsidian's forum.
Funny, because I recently started to use Dyanlist and now their owners are making like a trascended version of it.
Btw how do you exactly put those brackets in 7:16? Im an infamous Windows user
EDIT: Nvm I checked the help section. Im retarded 😀
Did anybody of you use obsidian as a mindmap(ping) tool? Or does anybody know a mindmap that features this "linking" / "backlinking" concept?
Nice – this has lots of potential. For me, it is a very strong deja vu, though. For years I used "connected text", which – from the looks of it – basically was like obsidian; but on steroids: categories, types, tags, relations, outline-views, etc, etc, etc. In the end it was basically going in the direction of "semantic wiki" – in my understanding. REALLY comprehensive list of features. And for the real geek, you could even integrate python-scripts. In the end I had to quit using it, because it was basically discontinued and the UI wasnt scaled up or what. Really strong deja vu…. https://www.connectedtext.com/
Hey mate, I hope you and yours are doing well during these unusual times. This app seems great, but there is a free option by a brilliant and very ethical developer in Germany. It is called Zettlr, have you heard of it? Either way a review would be really useful and especially for students who are having to deal with the whole virtual learning thing that is sweeping universities. Take a look and let me know what you think, the reference capabilities are second to none. Take care Keep Productive Team!!! Your reviews and advice certainly helped me through my MSc which is now in the bag!!! Cheers guys!
Can it support colored text? Font change and etc?
How do i install obsidian in linux?
Please try to make your videos as short as possible… Just tell what it is does and what it is capable of…
Well done. Look forward to the future ones.
no filtering for the backlinks? that would be quite a show-stopper, as the list of backlinks would quickly grow incredibly big.
You've got the pace exactly right for this beginner, Francisco. I've been thinking about Notion for a while, and now Roam Research, but what I like about Obsidian is that I can work offline if I want to – or in the unlikely event of an outage. So I'm looking forward to the next, deeper look into Obsidian. Thanks so much!
Can you capture information from websites?
Hi there, great Software, but have you checked The Brain (www.thebrain.com). In service since 1999 and a great software.
How did You start your notes from the beginning of the page?
I worry that the free version will have less and less features as time goes by. Do you think it will still be any good say one year from now.
It's too complicated for me, I'll just stick to Roam and Notion. But thank you for the film 🙂
Thanks for the tutorial! Do you see Obsidian as the ideal tool to create a Second Brain?
I'm completely new to softwares like this and also to linux. Can someone help me to install Obsidian? Where can I find simple instructions to do it?

Surprised that Obisidian is developed by Chinese
Great tutorial, the most important features are clearly explained. Just what I wanted!
Brilliant. thanks for this rundown. I think I'm going to keep using Notion for everyday, "Life OS" stuff.. but I'm going to use Obsidian to maintain, organize, develop my content for my youtube videos and blogs. The connection features are so powerful. I've got so many excerpts of material strewn around, so I'm going to put them all in Obsidian and start creating great blog and video content.
Could you make a video about Remnote? Seems a free sibling version of roam research plus space repetition and active recall.
Would be interesting to undesrtand differences and if it's frictionless note taking as roam research.
Thks!
Guys never ever use click up it is just trash
guys can anyone help me with this… (" how to increase the text size in obsedien ") am using a larger screen and its hard for me to look….
Don't switch between light and dark as quickly as you do
Looks interesting. Thanks for the tour. Had to think of HyperCard: https://youtu.be/FquNpWdf9vg

Hello,
Obsidian looks like Evernote for taking notes?. I’m looking for software to take notes and create connections for related people and events in a scenario like a journalist or a historian. I’m not a journalist, historian, or an academic person, but I like to save news about different events (especially politics) and people. I’d like to create connections for events and people who are involved in the same event(s) are it's important to me to find them next time easily.
Currently, I use Evernote to save news on the web and use the tags feature to find events and people. for example, I type or select a tag to see all news, events that used those tags. But I’d like to have a graphical view of related events that affect each other. Evernote doesn’t have a graph view or something like that. I need something like a timeline view or at least a graph view to connect/disconnect events and people manually. Something like a historian wants to see an event with all related other events that affect each other or lead to a big event, and also how many people are connected to an event. Adding image, link, comment, and other text and image features would be great for events.
I think a mix of note-taking software and a powerful timeline software is the thing I need for my desired program.
Now I’d like to know if Obsidian is similar to the thing I described for that or no?
Thanks!
Not too useful for personal use, IMO, unless you are a heavy note-taker. However, for business use, this seems like an invaluable asset.
showing an accurate and deep understanding; great perceptive. Thank you for all the insightful information. 💡
the thing I like about obsidian is the translucent window, it really looks sick.
Does Obsidian 1) Have a mobile app? 2) allow inline images and or attachments like Joplin?
This is exactly what I was looking for in Notion!
To be honest at start I liked your Chanel… but it’s turn out to be just a videos about nothing… poor discussion about same topics over and over just to get people… no practical knowledge… poor poor 💩
Was here for obsidian , ended up downloading clickup.
