Switching to Linux for computing and only using Windows for gaming, both have their utilities IMO
I want to use Linux but the Terminal is the most intimidating thing I have ever seen.
Had an old Acer netbook. I replaced the HDD with an SSD and upgraded the RAM from 1GB to 2GB and installed Linux. Runs like a dream and I've got a few more years out of my device. I do also have a Windows machine I use from time to time.
I am finding windows much harder. It is like you have to fight against the OS
So I can buy a sick laptop like the new MacBook air (yes I work on the go) and then use a Proper OS compare to apple S-#&@ sick!!
I dual boot windows 10 and Linux

Need a simple installer that identifies volume names

I appreciate this clear explanation. One of the best videos out there – thank you! My question is that, my computer I want to install Linux to is quite old and has Microsoft office (biz version) and doesn't connect/recognize wifi, but only LAN. After installing Linux, would the new system recognize wifi, so that I'd be able to connect to the internet and download additional programs? Thanks for your help!
Just hard ditched Mac OS on my MacBook and installed Linux… best decision I could make haha
Thanx for the help. I'm just finishing installing Ubuntu Studio, couldn't have done it without you.
Cheers!
Is there a Filipino here that can help me ditch windows?
I want to install Linux on my computer but I’m frustrated because all I try to install has an error, in short, it will not install. Based on my research there is a problem with the driver of Linux on the VGA.
My computer is just assembled, Processor: Intel Core(TM) Duo 2.3Hz, GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2E motherboard, 4GB Memory, and 160GB HDD (SATA), and it’s working fine with Windows 7. Now I return back to windows 7. With my frustration, it came to me that Linux is just a waste OS.
I installed a new VGA a GIGABYTE VGA with a higher VGA memory than the integrated in the motherboard but still, the problem is not solved. I use the command before installation of NOMODESET but still has still given me black screen or black screen with a cursor blinking at the left top corner or a list of the message of errors found like SQUASH…
I try to install Linux Mint 20.1 64bit, 19.3, 19.2, 19, and 4. I try Ubuntu 20.4.2.0 also, I try the Pop OS, and I try the lowest one Linux Lite they are all same problem.
On Ubuntu, when checking the disk stage, it will found 5 files having an error or not found then it will stack a blank screen. I reset the computer and in disk checking it will save 10 files not found again or having an error? In the 4 attempts, I display the install screen finally but just a few seconds before I will hit the Install button it turns to a list of messages of errors…
The problem is no one can help, even Linux users don’t know to help also… how about you, you can help me?
I dumped windows for Zorin around 5 years ago and never looked back.
Whats wrong with Linux video editing? There are some pretty great Video Editing software on Linux now. Also grandmas can use Linux, it doesn't have to be a professional OS.
If anyone wants to make the transition smoother and try different stuff, I highly suggest learning how to create a virtual machine.
Sorry if I sound stupid, but just to make sure, You made a Linux USB Installation Drive and then Proceeded to Boot off of it and install Linux into your machine right? If I wanted to for my case to have Linux run off a USB, that would mean I need 2 USBs right? 1 for Installation and 1 for Linux and around 9:30 in your video I would be able to choose the other USB right? I just want to make sure because I don't want to overwrite my data in windows and stuff.
Today I ditched windows, my dad came back from the grocery store!
0:01 Android is a Linux distro for phones idiot
at first you need some pills when using linux because not all of us understand computer language, some just want to play games while they have their free day off, others use it as they want ,so if linux fits you then you have computer language skills i dont have time for that just click play enjoy
So I don't have to install anti-virus system on Linux? …because that's the first thing I do when reinstall Windows
I used to be a Windows user for 10 years. Now I am clean for over 4 years and happily married.
I just dropped myself into Linux mint and figured things out
